Headache

Acupuncture for Headache

Headaches are very common. Around the world, millions of people suffer from headaches. Most people have headaches for life because they do not know that there is a very high probability for a clinical cure if they see the right acupuncturists.

Why it is so hard to cure headaches?
There are many kinds and causes of headaches. Studies from China show that more than 90% of headaches are caused by soft-tissue injury/disorders resulting in inflammation and/or adhesions in the muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, and bursae, on the back of the scalp, neck, and upper-back areas, pinching the nerves or irritating the nerve endings there. One major cause of headache is inflammation and/or adhesion at muscle attachment sites on the scalp and the first two vertebrae, irritating the occipital nerve greater, occipital nerve lesser, or posterior auricular nerve.

Conventional medicine usually relies on imaging and lab tests for diagnosis, but headaches are caused by soft-tissue injury or disorders; so, for most headaches, you often hardly find anything wrong based on imaging and lab tests. Imaging tests may discover bone spurs, or disc bulging or herniation of the cervical vertebrae, but these abnormalities are usually NOT the real causes of headache.

The key to curing headache is to eliminate the inflammation/adhesion in affected soft tissues, which is not easy. Most people with headaches would see MDs, physical therapists, chiropractors, or massage therapists, but their headache but will not be completely gone in spite of improvement. This is because medications, cortisone injections, physical therapy, chiropractic adjustments, or massages usually reduce the inflammation/adhesion in muscles but NOT eliminate them; so there will be recurrences.

How does regular (traditional) acupuncture alleviate headaches?
Regular acupuncture practiced by most acupuncturists is based on traditional acupuncture theories, such as Qi (Chi), meridians or channels, and acupuncture points. Most people with headaches usually respond well to traditional acupuncture, some of whom can be cured. But many types of headaches CANNOT be cured with traditional acupuncture because it does not address the underlying cause which is inflammation or/and adhesion in affected soft tissues. In other words, traditional acupuncture does not target affected soft tissues, so you easily miss the sites of inflammation or/and adhesion that need to be eliminated in order for the headache not to recur.

We have developed unique acupuncture plans and techniques to cure headaches based on our extensive experience and the newest discoveries from China. Targeted diagnosis is done by using fingers to palpate and identify the injured or disordered soft tissue. Once identified, we use unique acupuncture techniques to those areas to stimulate the body's healing process to reduce and eventually eliminate inflammation or/and adhesion. Once the affected soft tissues are healed, the headache can be clinically cured. We have a very high success rate in curing headaches. If you have a chronic headache, please feel free to schedule a free consultation with us so we can explain in detail how we can help.
