Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an ancient system of medicine that originated in China more than 5,000 years ago. The philosophy behind the treatment is that the body consists of a network of pathways called meridians, where the body’s energy (QI) circulates. When the smooth flow of “QI” is interrupted, imbalances occur and illnesses develop. Acupuncturists adjust and restore the body’s energy flow into healthier patterns by strategically inserting thin, sterile needles into specific areas of the body.

Chinese Herbs

Herbal medicine has great antiquity; with therapeutic roots extending back about 3,000 years. Natural herbal formulas are specifically prescribed to correct the imbalances within the system by taking the whole body into consideration, rather than focusing on just the symptoms alone.  Many clinical and research studies have shown that patients suffering from stubborn conditions which fail to respond to pharmaceuticals often respond very well to herbal remedies.

Moxibution

Moxibustion is a therapy using moxa or mugwort to increase blood circulation and induce a smoother flow of QI in the meridians. The burning of moxa expels cold and warms the meridians to facilitate the body’s healing process. Moxa may be used indirectly with acupuncture needles held over the area to be treated, burnt atop a fine slice of ginger, or burnt directly on the patient’s skin.

Cupping

Cupping is the term applied to a technique that uses small glass cups or bamboo jars as suction devices placed on the skin to disperse and break up stagnation and congestion by drawing congested blood, energy or other humors, to the surface.

Mike V

“THANK YOU, thank you & thank you for your beyond excellent acupuncture treatments before my Super Regional Weightlifting Tournament on November 6 2011. Without your help my hip pointer: that had pressure on my "sciatica" nerve I could not have competed. Please accept this special "medal that I won in the Tournament-as really it belongs to you!!”

Acupressure, Massage, Bodywork

Tui Na (medical massage) works in accordance with the complex theory of TCM. Fundamental to this theory is the life empowering energy that the Chinese call Qi (pronounced 'chee'). Every aspect of bodily functions depends upon Qi and its flow through the tissues.
